Get Smart?[edit]

I haven't played the game in a while, but I remember when surveying the monkey head on Monkey Island, he states that it is the second biggest monkey head he's seen. If this is true, then that should be some sort of reference to Get Smart, right? —Preceding unsigned comment added by MaximillianRiese (talkcontribs) 03:43, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

die[edit]

can you die if you stay under water for more than 10 minites when looking for Pegnose Pete's hideout

I think you sail on a raft - so no underwater fun. Poulsen 12:17, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think he says about the underwater case with the chest. Pictureuploader 13:15, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I had completely forgotten that. Poulsen 13:22, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
yer i do meen when looking for chest
Conisdering that it is done in the previous games, I would imagine yes. If you are underwater and do nothing for 10 minutes, you die.Wild ste 19:13, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, you can't die. Guybrush just says "uh-oh..." and resurfaces. CaptainAustralia 4:03, 9 March 2008

I read somewhere that after he resurfaces, keep putting him in the water and wiating until he drowns. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.30.80.9 (talk) 14:59, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Stuck on the Second Island[edit]

Can't remember the name of the second island but I have broken out of the bank, been arrested and now need to prove my innocence but don't know how. Tried getting the guy in the artificial limbs shop to smell the hankerchief but he can't cos he has a cold.

Would be gratful for a bit of advice.

Thanks —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.19.57.146 (talkcontribs) .

put sawdust the flower water from the swamp and bait in the EMPTY spritser bottle and spray it at dead eye dave

MI5?[edit]

This is probably a stupid question but I haven't heard any mention of a fifth Monkey Island game. Is Lucasarts even working on one? What about all that talk about a "five game contract with Lucasarts" in EMI?

There is much speculation about this, but nothing has been confirmed. Please see this paragraph from the main MI article and its associated links for more information. Kris 07:23, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reference to other games[edit]

When I'm at the Giant Monkey Head, there is a Q-Tip that you can spot and Guybrush keeps making the point "Oh Yer". I'm assuming that this is a reference to a previous game so should it be put in (if someone knows what game it is)?Wild ste 16:12, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Useful citations[edit]

The New York Times ran an article on EfMI; it seems like a good source of citations: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9F02E3DE133CF934A35751C1A9669C8B63Alan De Smet | Talk 04:26, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Loose the Kraken[edit]

When sailing to Jambalaya Island (on the PS2 version, which is what I've got), Carla says "Loose the Kraken!" in the middle of a bunch of other familiar-sounding movie quotes... but this came out before PotC was released. Are they both referring to some earlier movie quote? Or is the Pirates quote a throwback? But then, the others say movie quotes... Kuronue | Talk 13:36, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Most sources say that MI takes ideas from POTC (the ride) and POTC (the films) take ideas from MI. So it's entirely possible that it was in the film because of inspiration from MI. It could just be coincidence. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.210.108.128 (talk) 14:37, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removed[edit]

I removed the let alone another MI game part here [1] since it didn't make sense. Since Monkey Island was the most successful of their adventure game franchies, it seems if they were going to release a new adventure game the most likely may be Monkey Island. While (unfortunately I guess) I doubt they will, the let alone part still doesn't make sense Nil Einne 16:59, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Escape from monkey island mac cover.jpg[edit]

Image:Escape from monkey island mac cover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Merges[edit]

In my opinion Elaine Marley#Inconsistency and the latter part of Herman Toothrot should be merged in a new section in Escape from Monkey Island entitled Inconsistency, either in the plot or reception sections. The game is pretty famous for its plot holes. Additionally, this would save valuable info as the articles are in danger of being deleted. LaukkuTheGreit (TalkContribs) 16:14, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The problem there is that all the information you point to is entirely original research. It should just be gotten rid of, not dumped here (this article has enough problems already), unless it can be properly referenced with secondary sources commenting on these inconsistencies. -- Sabre (talk) 16:21, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh well, maybe the info is not worth keeping/moving, as it's entirely OR. I've changed my mind and removed the tags. LaukkuTheGreit (TalkContribs) 22:19, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reference material[edit]

There are numerous reviews for this game over at the online print archive. In addition, I dug up quite a few preview articles:

Hopefully, these will be of some help, when someone goes to improve the article. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 02:20, 26 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

point & click[edit]

Escape from monkey island is classified as point & click. Please remove that, because this is not one of them. It's direct controlled. You can't even use the mouse. 84.251.92.156 (talk) 14:13, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Escape from Monkey Island[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Escape from Monkey Island's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
