Common names

[edit]

I can find no on-line reference to common names other than yorrell and white mallee (several sites). Dean Nicolle's site lists others but does not repeat them in his book of the same title "Native Eucalypts of South Australia". They may, however be in Rodger Elliot's book (I don't have it). I also acknowledge that "snap and rattle" featured on a DYK. I intend to delete the common names, other than yorrell and white mallee but urge anybody who thinks the others have value to replace them if they are so inclined. Hi @Gderrin: Hi Geoff, Better late than never for a reply but I found these references using "Snap and Rattle" as a common name: [1], [2] and [3]. These may not be the most reliable of sources but at least demonstrate the name is used. Old cockies also have used the name when talking about species of Eucalypt (in WA at least). Best Regards. @Hughesdarren: Hmmm - interesting. Thanks for that. You've motivated me to see if I can find Elliot's book in a library. Snappy common name - I'd like to see it in the article! Gderrin (talk) 20:44, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Hughesdarren: again. Sorted now. Bit slack of me not to read further down the article, where the common name "snap and rattle" was given with a reference. It's in Elliot's Encyclopedia. Gderrin (talk) 04:46, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, thanks for checking it out. Regards. Hughesdarren (talk) 09:38, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
