Frères ennemis[edit]

What does "fréres ennemis" mean?

I believe that can be translated as "friendly enemies" or as "enemy brothers". --A.S. Brown 01:32, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Start[edit]

I have classified it as a start. There is more information than a stub. However, the sourcing needs to be improved. Capitalistroadster 19:34, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject class rating[edit]

This article was automatically assessed because at least one article was rated and this bot brought all the other ratings up to at least that level. BetacommandBot 03:12, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Province[edit]

I'm not sure that the word "province" is appropriate...in fact i'm sure it is absolutely not (otherwise E.Weber would definetly be wrong on the matter) "country[side]" or "peasant", something like that, would meet the case better--So6sechs (talk) 21:28, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tone[edit]

The tone of this article is too hagiographic. Wholesale excision is called for. There are also numerous grammatical problems.

  • I agree. This article is far too laudatory, and will need a heavy revision. It reads as if Weber had written it himself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Regulov (talkcontribs) 11:32, 12 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • That was my first reaction, too, even at a brief glance — and I've always been a great admirer of Prof. Weber. A more neutral, objective tone that let his work speak for itself (perhaps noting its weaknesses as well as strengths) would actually do him more credit. —— Shakescene (talk) 19:26, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Good lord ! how right you are ! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.22.193.172 (talk) 11:32, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Definitely needs toning down... 82.28.150.143 (talk) 14:16, 23 August 2011 (UTC) I've now taken out a lot of the material that was lower on factual content than praise... 82.28.150.143 (talk) 14:53, 23 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Original Research or Unattributed Sources?[edit]

There are a number of unattributed quotations and claims, many of which seem to come from the Franklin and Kanyane book (I think?). 82.28.150.143 (talk) 14:31, 23 August 2011 (UTC) For instance "It was my vague dissatisfaction... etc" and the Hans Rogger quote in the first section. 82.28.150.143 (talk) 14:54, 23 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

book promotion?[edit]

i'm not familiar with wiki policy and procedures - so i don't know what to do about the mention of book "Eugen Weber The Greatest Historian of our Times" in the IMPACTS section - it adds no information about the subject - talking only about itself --Jeyon (talk) 22:49, 3 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation note[edit]

I just had a conversation with someone and we realized that neither of us had any idea how Weber pronounced his last name. Given that there are two common pronunciations ('Web-er' vs. 'vay-ber') I was wondering if there was any source anyone knew of to add this information to the page — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:602:0:A80:DC2E:6B00:1A11:7347 (talk) 06:53, 18 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
