Eureka TV

I was talking to my mom today and she said she thinks Eureka got TV about 1958 - it was one station that showed a program in the evening only that came in a can of film on the bus up from San Francisco - if conditions on Hwy 101 (such as a landslide) prevented the bus from getting through on time there would be no TV that day. She never saw any of the classic early American TV programs. Eureka media and other connections to the world at large would be interesting to research and add to this entry and also to the one for Humboldt County. 68.154.121.173 04:42, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

In my opinion, it was a bit earlier, because I moved from Eureka in the spring of 1958. As a young child there, my best friend had her own TV around a year earlier, a fact which, along with her freezer full of Eskimo Pies, convinced me that she was very wealthy. I think that most of my friends' families there had TVs. We didn't, however, because the church we a attended on F Street taught that they were an evil tool of the devil <smile>. I used to sing solos on Saturday Stars, a radio program there. A Hollywood representative was sent to my home to talk about my starring on TV. I refused, in order to win points with my parents.
