Foundation date

The article text states that the foundation date of Eureka is 1856, but there is no source. I was able to find information about the foundation and incorporation of Eureka in the listing of California Historical Landmarks for Humboldt County, but that source stated 1850 for the founding and 1874 for the incorporation (link - temporarily out of service, but retrievable from Wayback Machine or Google cache). I used the 1850/1874 dates in the infobox, but I did not change the article body to be consistent in case there actually was a more definitive source. Mike Dillon 01:48, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Pleasse see the reference from US Senator Diane Feinstein's resolution congratulating Eureka ( http://feinstein.senate.gov/06releases/r-eureka150.pdf. ) The city has been celebrating its sesquecentenial (April 17, 1856- April 17, 2006) all year. The reference in an article on CA State Markers showing 1874 is an error. Norcalal 19:18, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

This is not entirely true. There seems to have been two incorporations, the original 1856 incorporation as a town and the subsequent re-incorporation as a city in 1874. Neither the Feinstein source nor the one I used really meet WP:RS, but it's pretty clearly verifiable. I've updated the infobox to reflect this. Mike Dillon 19:20, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
