Evgeny, not Yevgeny
[edit]Evgeny Chichvarkin is known as Evgeny, not as Yevgeny . See https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-06-09/evgeny-chichvarkin-lost-1-billion-and-now-owns-hedonism
What's more I met him today and took his card. It reads 'Evgeny'. The article should be amended to correct the spelling of his first name.Keith Johnston (talk) 17:46, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
- It's a perennial topic how to transcribe or transliterate Russian names, or names from languages written in other alphabets. In German his name would be Jewgeni or Eugen, often they do that. E.G. Peter Tschaikowsky, not Piotr. And the surname is usually in this German transcription because they often published their music in Leipzig and that spelling stuck. I'd come here to see if some of the entrepreneur's difficulties in Russia had something to do with taxation which was introduced to Russia at the time. Russians were not used to taxes and resented their introduction which led to problems between entrepreneurs and the government. I does not seem to be the case here, at least not openly. 2001:8003:A02F:F400:386F:7E1:97BB:E269 (talk) 06:49, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
