Should we merge Pluto Fast Flyby and Pluto-Kuiper Express with this article?[edit]

Seems tidier. Serendipodous 10:14, 19 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure. Maybe. Pluto Fast Flyby is very short and unproblematic to merge, but Pluto-Kuiper Express is larger. If we merge all content here, we risk having comparatively too much information on those cancelled probes and too little on the actual mission to Pluto. And deleting good information is not an option. --JorisvS (talk) 10:33, 19 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Table of proposed missions[edit]

It'd be nice to have a summary (in the form of a table) of all proposed missions with status (cancelled, executed, pending...), date (of proposal/cancellation/launch/flyby... whatever is more appropriate), mission name and mission summary, with links to the sub-sections further down in the article about each mission. Each section for the most prominent missions (e.g. Pluto Kuiper Express and New Horizons) can link to the dedicated dedicated articles. AugustinMa (talk) 00:29, 27 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please, go ahead and make it. --JorisvS (talk) 10:18, 27 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

how did they contemplate exploring Pluto before the space program[edit]

It currently reads: Exploring Pluto was contemplated since its discovery by Clyde Tombaugh in 1930,

How exactly did they complete exploring Pluto long before they even had a space program? Dream Focus 01:06, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The sentence is 'contemplated', not 'complete' (should you still be contemplating this :) ). The Yeti (talk) 13:19, 4 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:USPS Pluto Stamp - October 1991.jpg[edit]

File:USPS Pluto Stamp - October 1991.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a non-free use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Persephone[edit]

There probably isn't enough info yet to create a new article for this, so this seems as good a place as any to mention it. There is a proposed follow-up mission to Pluto named Persephone. Here are a couple of links: <https://www.technologyreview.com/2021/07/19/1029680/nasa-pluto-mission-persephone> <https://www.spaceflightinsider.com/missions/solar-system/videos-simulate-pluto-charon-flyby-follow-up-mission-proposed>

When anyone thinks there's enough, they can create a Persephone (spacecraft) page. :) The Yeti (talk) 13:19, 4 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
