FT Island a boy band?

[edit]

Would FT Island be considered a boy band? If there are no objections, I'll list them as such, for several reasons: - All members are well below 20 - Their live singing is mediocre - Their "look" is very similar to those of other Korean boy bands

Deleted info from the page

[edit]

Back in the beginning of July, I heavily edited this page, making it look a lot like it does today. But as you can see, the page is now excruciatingly short. For the sake of good English, I deleted a large bulk of information on the group, as you can see on this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=F.T._Island&diff=149184610&oldid=141781458. If anyone could somehow incorporate some of this deleted information to make the article appear a little longer, it would be great, since I can't find a way to do so myself. Chiaren

Cleaning

This page is clearly messy. I've try fixing it, but there's just too much information. Contributing would be greatly appreciated. Too peachy 12:46, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Awards??

[edit]

I noticed that there are no awards section for the page, even if they received awards already like the "New Male Artist Award" during the 2007 Asia Song Festival and SBS Inkigayo 1st Place.. so shouldn't there be an awards section? Just asking... :P

Question

[edit]

Why is on the offical site they state HongKi's birthday as Feb.6th 1990 but here it's listed as March 2nd 1990? I know in Korea sometimes a child is registered at a later date then their actual birthday, but that doesn't work in this case because why is the birthday being put on the offical site earlier then the one here? And the same year as well. Shouldn't we use the offical site since you know it's the offical site? Ourdestiny 05:41, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

2nd Album Title Song

[edit]

I know in korean the title song for Colorful Sensibility should be "After Love", however there were the Chinese letters added in to the title and it means "Lying Love". The boys themselves said that it didn't mean "After Love" and if you listen to the song it was all about how it was a lie. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.138.61.17 (talk) 05:46, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If a member of wikipedia would be willing to provide a picture of the group as a whole, with subtitles as to the names of each member of the group, in the order they would appear, it would be wonderfully appreciated. -Mia (can be reached at LinkinParkGurrl51 at fanfiction.net, would not like to enclose identity for security purposes) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.73.204.182 (talk) 18:33, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please change Choi Jong Hun's info from (guitar and keyboard) to (leader, guitar and keyboard) and Song Seung Hyun's info from (guitar and vocals) to (rhythm guitar and vocals)in the first paragraph because it provides more specific detail.

Revamp

[edit]

I started to rewrite and properly source the article, but it takes time. I did some major changes today and will continue to improve. Some sentences need to be taken out or rewritten completely, and fan blogs have to replaced with proper news sources. Working on it. Teemeah 편지 (letter) 16:06, 4 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Protected

[edit]

I have semi-protected the article to stop edit warring. Please discuss the matter here. New editors in particular need to be aware that neutrality is one of our basic principles. We cannot advocate a position, take a side in a dispute in Wikipedia's voice, or urge the reader to do anything. With that said - talk about it. There may well be a way to present this information neutrally and encyclopedically. Yngvadottir (talk) 22:31, 10 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Yngvadottir:, thank you. Everyone, right now this info is too fresh to know what's reliable and what's not, and many are feeling pretty emotional about it. Let's wait a while until things calm down a bit, and then work together to see how the info can be added in a carefully-worded way. Shinyang-i (talk) 22:33, 10 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think this needs to be added and I'm pretty much a devoted fan of this band myself. This was a fan project I also participated in, but this is not something belonging to an encyclopedia. If the agency responds, takes up the matter or the band otherwise does a major step connected to this issue (lawsuit, or official statement release) then we can mention it in a line or two. But emotional statements about unfair treatments is not something we can and should endorse in Wikipedia, using this place as an extended fanclub outlet... People need to understand that this is not a blog. Teemeah 편지 (letter) 11:46, 11 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

F.T. Island or FTISLAND? discussion

[edit]

So far here was F.T. Island, but official pages of the band tell a different story. It is FTISLAND. I want standardize information everywhere. Is it possible? I know that this community has its own rules and regulations:

- "Do not replicate stylized typography in logos and album art, though a redirect may be appropriate (for example, KoЯn redirects to Korn)." - in this case does not apply to logos and album art. This is name this band. logo is different.

- "Follow standard English text formatting and capitalization rules, even if the trademark owner considers nonstandard formatting "official", as long as this is a style already in widespread use, rather than inventing a new one." - i understand this, but FTISLAND is common, is an international name.

In Wikipedia is new word, but this style already in widespread use on many websites on the Internet. Official website team says that it is FTISLAND, not F.T. Island. In my opinion should standardize information everywhere.

In order not to conflict with the name of the FTISLAND... I will find all articles on wikipedia of wrongly adopted the name and I will try to re-structure... Of course, if the decision will be positive to change to FTISLAND and the possibility of creating redirects.

I am waiting for a response.

(talk) 11:46, 16 April 2015

I already responded on my talk page, but I'll post here as well. The Manual of Style discourages all caps (See WP:ALLCAPS; WP:MOSTM). That's why we have Big Bang instead of BIGBANG (which is used officially). Besides, "F.T. Island" and "FT Island" are in use by reliable sources, as well as "FTISLAND". Random86 (talk) 09:53, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I understand you and politics Wikipedia.
But In this case, Wikipedia has the task of not misleading, and that name is misleading. Because a lot of people and pages draws knowledge from here. I know ""F.T. Island" and "FT Island" are in use by reliable sources, as well as "FTISLAND"" but that is no reason than they are used properly. For it to specify the name should be the official name, confirmed, if it's possible with the official websites. I do not agree with it. too many people of you use. because really who mistakenly create a name and the administrator does not verify correctly. then it is hard to insist name change on the correct name. With BIGBANG you should also prevent something like this. and here was also very often written C.N.BLUE, but official name is CNBLUE and in Wikipedia created CNBLUE but not C.N.BLUE or CN BLUE (CN Blue. Why can not be in the case FTISLAND?
I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE OPINIONS ALSO OTHER.
(talk) 12:35, 16 April 2015
There is no misleading. Wikipedia's policy on trademarks is clear. "choose the style that most closely resembles standard English, regardless of the preference of the trademark owner" - that is, we go for readability and consistency. We don't put ROLEX or REALTOR® everywhere. In standard English, F.T. Island is correct. The F.T. is an obvious acronym and is used as such. Just because Korean companies use letters in all caps, it doesn't mean Wikipedia needs to stylize it that way. CNBLUE should probably be changed as well. Evaders99 (talk) 01:19, 17 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Evaders99 I understand that the size of the letters (capital letters) is a key issue and dots between words. but you would have to change a lot of names if it is a priority. Because the other teams:
- N.Flying (NEW Flying) according to politics Wikipedia, should be called N. Flying (with a space)

- AOA (Ace of Angels), according to politics Wikipedia, should be called A.o A. or A.O.A (in official website - AOA)

- GP Basic (Girl Power Basic), according to politics Wikipedia, should be called G.P. Basic

- iKON, according to politics Wikipedia, should be called Ikon

- ZE:A, according to politics Wikipedia, should be called Ze:a
and many other names.
as that it is encyclopedia, this should be changed... allow the use of official names (capital letters) but without the extra characters (® or inverted letters). team names, labels, names songs, albums, e.t.c. checked and verified by an official source of information. This would simplify the action you and there would be no dispute. So as not enter the network incorrect names.
People in such places should have clear information so they are true.
(talk) 11:28, 17 April 2015
I agree with you, those should be changed to be consistent. But thousands of articles in the English Wikipedia do follow that policy. Essentially the argument that other stuff exists does not mean the policy is invalid. You believe the capital letters are significant to the name of the group, however in standard English, there is specific usage for proper names and acronyms. In written text, there's no real distinction in common usage from F.T. Island and FTISLAND. Both distinctly refer to one group, as simple Google query can show that. So Wikipedia prefers the readable version that matches English conventions. Either you argue it's not a trademark (it is) or Wikipedia's policy should be overturned, I doubt you would get consensus on either. Evaders99 (talk) 01:13, 18 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
