Did You Know A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on March 9, 2009.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that, due to a pressing error, the first shipment of Faryl Smith's debut album Faryl instead contained the music from The Fall's album Imperial Wax Solvent?
Current status: Featured article

Brahms'/Brahm's[edit]

Both Smith's official Web site (http://www.farylmusic.com/music/) and the UCJ Web site (http://www.classicsandjazz.co.uk/tssite/homepage.do?ruleset=release&id=60261352) list "Brahm's Lullaby" as a track on the album. Can anyone confirm whether the piece is referred to this way in the actual album notes? If so, it should probably be listed that way in the article, followed by "[sic]." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 163.231.6.88 (talk) 14:52, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review[edit]

This review is transcluded from Talk:Faryl/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.
  1. Well-written

':Some general grammar snafus because you're trying to be brief where you can't be. Otherwise okay. Detailed copyediting comments are below.

  1. Accurate and verfiable
    The tracklisting isn't referenced.
I've added a couple of general references to respected shopping sites for the listing and times. J Milburn (talk) 12:53, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Broad coverage
    • Green tickYThe article doesn't mention any details about the related music video.
    • I honestly can't find any. I know it was recorded, but no one really mentions it. I've added an external link to it (from an official channel) on YouTube. J Milburn (talk) 12:53, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • The infobox lists just two reviews. Surely there are more on such a fast-selling album?
    • Green tickYI could just find the three- The Times, a local paper and a freesheet. I found this- do you think that's worth including? Actually, I've just found one from The Guardian, published yesterday- I'll add that now. I've also found one from thelondonpaper- no star rating, but I've added it to the prose. J Milburn (talk) 12:53, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • The classic fm review doesn't seem significant enough, but I'm happy with the other stuff you found. - Mgm|(talk) 10:31, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  3. Green tickYNeutral: No neutrality issues.
  4. Stable With the album currently or soon being promoted in the US, I'm not sure it's stable enough yet. I'd recommend keeping the article on hold for a while until we know for sure how it's going there.
  5. Green tickY Illustrated: Fair use rationale for the image checks out.

Suggested copyedits and content questions:

  • After its release, Faryl became the fastest selling classical solo album in British chart history, selling 20,000 copies in the first four days, and the album sold 29,200 copies in the first week, which is higher than any other debut album of a classical singer. If it's already the fastest selling classical solo album I'm not surprised it's the highest selling debut. The first is pretty much all encompassing. Is there a distinction I'm missing between the two?
    • There is a slight difference- some sources cite one record, some cite the other. I think she's been "officially" recognised as both. There's also an even more specific one, something about "the fastest selling classical debut from a solo female performer", but that one is definitely encompassed in the others. Do you feel one should be removed? J Milburn (talk) 12:57, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Green tickYHow can the CD have been recorded between December 2008 and January 2009? There are no months in between there. I suggest simply using "in" or slightly longer "during".
    • Fixed.
  • Green tickY"Song selection included" is a weird start to a sentence because most people don't know how songs are selected for an album. You should mention who did the selection or simply state that it was "included" or "on the album". Also in the recording section, the link between The Blue Danube and River of Light is not made clear like it was in the lead section.
    • Fixed. Better?
  • Green tickY"...the first shipment of Faryl arrived with Universal". Shouldn't that be "at Universal"?
  • Green tickYHe compared it favourably to two other Mothering Sunday releases, Lionel Richie's Just Go, Ronan Keating's Songs for My Mother and Barry Manilow's The Greatest Songs of the Eighties. Those are three releases. Do you mean to say two of those are released on Mothering Sunday and the third is not? If so, the unrelated one should be mentioned first so it won't be accidentally linked with Mothering Sunday during reading. If all are actually a Mothering Sunday releases, the number is wrong.
    • Yeah, that's just a stupid mistake on my part. Seems I can't count to three. J Milburn (talk) 13:04, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Green tickY"By a week before release" This is a grammar gremlin. Did you mean to say: "By the time the release was a week away" or simply "A week before release"? - Mgm|(talk) 11:12, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • The former. I'm still talking about Amazon. Changed. J Milburn (talk) 13:04, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
