Regarding the accuracy of Clairemont High School as the school Cameron Crowe attended undercover: while it's true that around the release of the book and the film he said the school was in Redondo Beach, CA, it was later revealed that it was specifically Clairemont High in San Diego. Regarding the "Films selected for this honor are "not necessarily the 'best' American films ever made or the most famous, but they are films that continue to have cultural, historical or aesthetic significance"", why does that need to be there? There's no similar disclaimer on the pages of other films in the registry. --Bitoffish

The topless is famous and a part of pop culture. The article not reflects that. Also, I did some cleanup, so can some one copy-edit behind me or possibly flesh out the plot summary spoilers? Thanks. What about mentioning the DVD Commentary by the Director stating how Phoebe Cates (while filming the swimming pool scene) was initially reluctant to do the nude scene because she thought the neighbors in the neighborhood would be watching from their rooftops! Might be "trivial" but still a movie-fact with the source being the DVD Commentary. What do you all think? Plot summary

The plot summary was far too long and detailed for an encyclopedia article. I've rewritten it to be much more concise, in keeping with WP:Writing about fiction and following the advice at WP:How to write a plot summary. Feel free to edit the new summary, but please do not make it very much more detailed, and especially please do not simply revert to the old version, which was really inappropriate for a Wikipedia article. +Angr 09:54, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Error

I found an error in this Wikipedia article. Can someone with more experience make a correction? This article states that the book is based on the author's (Cameron Crowe) experiences at Claremont High School in San Diego. The Claremont High School link points to Claremont High School in Claremont California, not San Diego California. The work quoted for this statement actually states that the high school is Clairemont High School in Clairemont California, which is a suburb of San Diego. Clairemont High School also has an article on Wikipedia. The article about Cameron Crowe states that he went to Clairemont High School when he wrote this novel. sophomore - American english/culture?

In the second paragraph of the current version the term 'sophomores' is prominent. This is a term highly embedded in the educational and social world of the United States, rather than being widely understood. It doubtless also carries a range of meaningful cultural associations and significances in that setting which, while in all likelihood relevant to the content of the film, are not accessible to those unfamiliar with the term and its context.

An alternative that is more generally understood would be preferable. Given differences in terminology surrounding secondary education even in the US (let alone internationally), for example between high school and senior high school, a better option might be (even if a little cumbersome): 'in the lives of [....] who are aged fifteen to sixteen years and in their second year of high school, and their older friends [...]'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.45.41.218 (talk) 00:59, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
