Why all those judges?

[edit]

This article is, at the moment, a bit imbalanced. Do we really need a list of all those judges? Is anyone really going to write articles about them? Some judges do have interesting careers (eg Tony North seems to attract some doozies: the waterfront conspiracy case, the MV Tampa habeas corpus case, etc), but most of them will rise and fall unnoticed by anyone in particular. Possible additions (which I might be able to get to at some stage - i'm going to invest most of my wiki-energies on australian law for a while) would be the story about how the Court came to be established, and a list of significant cases. -- SilasM, 13 Jan 2005

Selective deletion

[edit]

I am about to delete from the article history those revisions whose content and/or edit summaries libel Xtra, per Wikipedia's libel policy. Selective deletion requires full deletion followed by selective restoration. Therefore this article will be deleted for a very brief period of time. Snottygobble 02:24, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Family Court

[edit]

The article is incorrect in that it states "On the federal level, it is above the Family Court of Australia..." No appeal lies from the Family Court to the Federal Court or the Full Court of the Federal Court. The Family Court has its own appelate division, the Full Court of the Family Court, from which the only avenue of appeal is to the High Court with leave. The Family Court is essentially the same as the Federal Court - it is a Commonwealth court of superior record. Its jurisdiction is just limited to family matters.
