Plutonium Affair?

I think the Plutonium deal which was staged by the BND in 1994 should be addes to the article.[[1]]

Yeah rigth, then how about putting all the proven cases of kidnapping of the CIA up in their article?! There has to be a reasonable border!

Wiki Editing

Perhaps the evidence of the BND editing their own articles and having their IPs leaked should be added to the article? RE: http://wikileaks.org/wiki/German_Secret_Intelligence_Service_(BND)_T-Systems_network_assignments%2C_13_Nov_2008 --204.81.230.186 (talk) 16:27, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Federal Intelligence Service vs. Bundesnachrichtendienst

Is there any reason this article is not titled "German Federal Intelligence Service", as keeping with WP:EN and WP:UE? -Ich (talk) 19:13, 25 February 2014 (UTC)

Responsible to Where?

The article says the BND is "directly subordinated to the Chancellor's Office." The info box says the "responsible minister" is Helge Braun, Federal Minister of Special Affairs. Which is it? Are there federal ministers in the Chancellor's Office? Venqax (talk) 21:13, 18 May 2019 (UTC)

Federal Intelligence Service (Germany)Federal Intelligence Service – The German service, founded in 1956 as the west's second largest intelligence agency (around 10,000 employees during the Cold War, now 6,500) and a major player in the intelligence world and one of the most legendary Cold War-era intelligence agencies, is clearly the primary topic for this term; the two other entities listed on the disambiguation page are the Foreign (not Federal) Intelligence Service of Russia and a very new, very small and relatively unknown Swiss entity (around 2–300 employees and founded in 2010) with a somewhat different name too. --Ana Stelline (talk) 12:07, 15 March 2019 (UTC)

  • Oppose The official website bnd.de in English says The Foreign Intelligence Service of Germany. http://www.bnd.bund.de/EN/Home/home_node.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by AadaamS (talkcontribs)
    • First of all, this article is already named "Federal Intelligence Service (Germany)", so no argument has been made that it should be named something else until now, and that is outside the scope of this primary topic-related debate on "Federal Intelligence Service (Germany)" vs. "Federal Intelligence Service."
    • Secondly, the website you are referring to uses the German form of the name, Bundesnachrichtendienst, as its proper name, and only includes the sentence "the foreign intelligence service of Germany" in a purely descriptive and uncapitalized (not capitalized as you claimed) manner.
    • Thirdly, the name "Federal Intelligence Service" seems to be very well established in English language sources as the English name of the BND over the past 60+ years. For example, a Google Books search returns 3,370 results for "BND" AND "federal intelligence service" and 2,870 results for "BND" AND "foreign intelligence service", but: in the first case "Federal Intelligence Service" is used as the (capitalized) name of the service, and in the second case "foreign intelligence service" is overwhelmingly (over 90%) merely used as an (uncapitalized) description of the service. "Federal Intelligence Service" is also the most direct translation. --Ana Stelline (talk) 02:24, 16 March 2019 (UTC)
  • Support as clear primary topic of Federal Intelligence Service, unless a more correct title is needed as suggested above Lazz_R 00:33, 16 March 2019 (UTC)
  • Support. Does appear to be the primary topic for this specific title. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:36, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
