The residents of the town

[edit]

We don't say explicitly, but may I assume from the name Michael Weiss that the residents of the town were Transylvanian Saxons? -- Jmabel | Talk 20:39, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Burzenland was first settled and developed in the Middle Ages by the German Order, who brought in German (Saxon) settlers. There were and are Szekler and, with time, increasing numbers of Romanian villages there, but until the 19th-20th centuries, the Saxons remained a dominant cultural presence in the area.
P.S.: Weiss was from Kronstadt, not Marienburg. Arminden (talk) 15:24, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Commune is irrelevant; the villages deserve own articles

[edit]

The actual topic of this article are the 3 distinct villages of which the commune consists. Until we have 3 dedicated articles, the names of those 3 must be highlighted in bold in the intro. N.B.: the "commune" as such is of almost no encyclopedic interest whatsoever; as opposed to this recent and ephemeral admin. unit, at least 2 of the 3 villages, F. and R., each have a long, interesting history and deserve full attention. There are German, Hungarian and Romanian articles to draw from (Rotbav here, here, and here; Feldioara here, here, and here; Colonia Reconstrucția in Hungarian, already used all data, and here in Romanian. NOTHING on Marienburg/Feldioara VILLAGE

[edit]

All we have is about the Ordensburg-turned-refuge fort (Fliehburg). Not a word on the Saxon village, with its history of c. 700 years and impressive church. Arminden (talk) 15:19, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
