Location?

Where exactly is this desert located? From the article, I gather the impression it's somewhere near the Atlantic coast. But this map shows it covering much of northern Senegal. This one shows a Ferlo valley in the east, while this one shows something similar. Also, should the Ferlo Nord Wildlife Reserve and the Ferlo Sud Wildlife Reserve, themselves in eastern Senegal, be mentioned?
