potential copyvio

[edit]

This article appears to be a very close paraphrase/ copy and paste of the article about Lungren in The Grove Encyclopedia of American Art, Volume 1, edited by Joan M. Marter. It needs a very good copy edit to ensure that the prose is not identical to the original. (See: https://books.google.com.au/books?id=sPGdBxzaWj0C&pg=RA2-PA198&lpg=RA2-PA198&dq=painter+%22Fernand+Lungren%22&source=bl&ots=qcedMECMuj&sig=81Yti_qUcLZOvh4UBiqm107gwIk&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjql8qroIbaAhXGmpQKHYpWBdE4HhDoAQgvMAI#v=onepage&q=painter%20%22Fernand%20Lungren%22&f=false).

There is so much material on this artist. It is a shame that the editor felt the need to copy from a single source. I will try to work on it over the next few weeks. BronHiggs (talk) 00:55, 25 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The name of Lungren's wife

[edit]

An editor has changed the name of Fernand Lungren's wife from Henrietta Whipple to Mary Henrietta Coflin. The change was not effected in the infobox, and no new reference was supplied. Lungren's wife's name, as given in the cited source is Henrietta Whipple.

The name of Lungren’s wife, as given in a number of reliable sources is Henrietta Whipple. While it is, of course, entirely possible that some of these sources are wrong, I don’t think that you can just change the wife’s name, but leave the original source intact. If there is evidence that the source was incorrect, then please supply a new reference for that name. Both the source cited in the article (that is Ackerman’s American Orientalists) and Marter, J.M. (ed.), The Grove Encyclopedia of American Art, Volume 1, OUP, 2011, p. 198. give her name as Henrietta Whipple. If you think it should be something else, please discuss on the talk page, citing your sources, before changing it again.

In the meantime, I have restored the original name. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 175.32.70.128 (talk) 02:53, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
