A fact from Festival of Lights (Lyon) appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 10 June 2006. The text of the entry was as follows:
Hello, I'm french, and more specifically, I live in Lyon. I just wanted to correct a fact in the history of the event. The festival of lights was created in 1852,and not in 1643.In 1643, there was the plague but it was the wish of the Echevins(le voeu des échevins)which was made to ask Mary to protect the town,on the 08 of september. The Festival of lights is only linked with the statue of Mary, whish was erected on 1852. That is a mistake which is really current.Thank you!
