Re: Hatchback I changed this to coupe, since I don't believe that with its rear-mounted engine cover the 600 qualifies as a hatchback.

New cost of Fiat 600 in US dollars

[edit]

$7300 quoted in the article for a new 600 is way off. The Italian Lire was pegged at around 625 to 1 US dollar from 1951 to 1971.

source: http://fx.sauder.ubc.ca/etc/USDpages.pdf

Therefore, at 590000 lire this means the car cost about $950 new in the 1950s. Bohlike (talk) 07:45, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Which sounds about the same as $7000 in todays money, you seem to missunderstand what the value relates to. go to the wiki oage in the USD and it shows a 50's $ having the buying power of $3.42 (80's) and an 08$ being worth 0.38 (80's) divide the 50's value by the new one to get the value in '08$ and its about $7,500, I've edited to make this clearer.(86.25.250.206 (talk) 00:41, 12 March 2009 (UTC))[reply]
