If you are not aware about this condition[edit]

Please don't delete this or try to merge this with other syndromes which are not the same. This is a condition seen in India Doctor Bruno 02:42, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This condition is the same as medical student syndrome and is not unique to India. The two articles should be merged. 151.203.238.185 16:54, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Medical Student Syndrome is not unique in India. First Clinical Syndrome is unique in India and it affects students only during the first clinical year. Medical Student Syndrome can happen during undergraduation as well as Post graduation.Doctor Bruno 16:59, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This is a minor detail. Why not include a Second Clinical Syndrome for conditions unique to the second year? To include something so specific to the first clinical year in India seems excessive. We may as well have a first year medical student syndrome as well as a second year medical student syndrome given the differences between first and second year curriculum. 151.203.238.185 17:02, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You should note that Wikipedia acts on No Original Research and Wikipedia:Verifiability. Since there is no established condition such as Second Clinical Syndrome (as of today), we can't have an article for that. It is a simple answer. The same holds true for the other conditions you have cited. If you have a valid reference (Ahuja, Kaplan etc) please cite the page number, edition number and we are happy to add that also.Doctor Bruno 17:09, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

But please explain more!![edit]

What exactly makes this so different from medical student sydrome? It seems more like a variation of the same illness. Medical student syndrome can happen at any time in a student's career, so since "first clinical syndrome" happens only in the first year, it is included in the definition of "medical student syndrome". I think it should be a subtype of it in the article page. This shouldn't turn into some kind of regionalist versus globalist fight. It's just that it seems redundant to have two articles that say mostly the same, with a slight variation. -- anonymous

Why are you having a seperate article for Sedan when you have an article for Car. First Clinical Syndrome is one of the various types of Medical Student Syndrome. You can merge this into Medical Student syndrome when you are merging Sedan into Car and Laser Printer into Printer. Why there is no opposition for all those seperate articles. Why no one ever wants to merge those. It is Laser printer is known to the English speaking population. On the other hand, First Clinical Syndrome is not known in America (as there is no First Clinical Year) and so there are requests for merge. I am removing the request as the need for the page has been already mentioned and adequately explained  Doctor Bruno  00:45, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that it's not correct to just delete the "proposed for merge" tag. There must be voting, and a consensus achieved. Just one person defending each point of view is not enough. By deleting the tag, you are hiding the fact that not everybody agrees on the current state of the article. If your opinion about this article is correct, then probably most people will agree with you, and the article will stay as it is. A new tag could be placed saying that a consensus was already achieved, but as things are now, it is not the case. --Guruclef 06:25, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

General Opinion[edit]

I believe Wikipedia should have a global outlook and give importance to regional issues. Just because something does not exist in a english speaking area (or just because a english speaking user does not know), the seperate article need not be deletedDoctor Bruno 16:59, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup[edit]

I posted a cleanup tag in the hope that someone with more specialised knowledge of this topic can rewrite some of the sections that are a little unclear or have bad grammar. Robotman1974 19:35, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
