Similar flags and how to prevent mixups

The writer, who is quite good with flags, momentarily thought that the Vanuatu flag was the South African flag. See below, they have similarities.

Conferences or sports events sometimes display the wrong flag, or play wrong national anthem, confusing say Austria with Australia. This could be basis for new article.

Recent story. Some fishing poachers from Malaysia hoped to disquise themselves by displaying Indonesian flag. Unfortunately they displayed it upside down and were easily noticed. (or visa versa).

Detail on flag wrong?

The article + http://flagspot.net/flags/vu.html say that there should be "39 pairs of needles on each leaf". When zoomed in, the needles are not needles and the count is wrong.

Namele cycad
