This is a stub, but there are news articles about FWK, a number of notable partners working with them, and they are directly working on public / government proposals. They submitted books to the recent CA call for open textbooks (looking for a ref). I'm on a v flaky connection, so I'll add more later... check some of the inbound links for more. There are a few other open text publishers with real funding and public initiatives with little to no WP coverage... +sj+ 19:56, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Conversion to encyclopedic article.

[edit]

There has been significant and notable coverage of Flat World Knowledge since the stub was created and with much work, an encyclopedic article is now established and cited. Ozlingkb (talk) 20:59, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Licensing of "paid" formats

[edit]

Does anyone know what the licensing of the paid formats is? The text of the books themselves is CC licensed, but since they charge to download pdfs and ebooks, I wonder if those files are CC licensed, or if they are proprietary to prevent redistribution. Easy to imagine one student in a class downloading the pdf and then redistributing it to the entire class if that is legally allowed. mcs (talk) 06:01, 24 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
