JGSDF camo as a "variation" of Flecktarn?

I have not been able to find any evidence supporting this claim. They do look similar, however I have found absolutely no Japanese sources indicating that it was indeed based of of Flecktarn. All Japanese sources (including Wikipedia), state that the 1992-present JGSDF pattern was developed by inputting image data of Japanese vegetation through a computer and converting that data into a dotted/specked pattern. Similar idea to Flecktarn, but not a variation of it. (114.158.83.236 (talk) 06:11, 10 June 2014 (UTC))

"Users" section

I am unclear on the function of the section as it currently stands. Such cited text as there is concerns variations from the original German Flecktarn pattern, and that seems a worthy goal for a section, in which case the section heading should be "Variations", and obviously every claim to the existence of a variant pattern needs to be cited to a reliable source.

That text would be best arranged as a paragraph of text, and it would not call for a list, let alone a list of flag icons. I can't see what valid function these serve in the article beyond decoration or national pride, neither of which seem plausible if we assume good faith. I'm aware that WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS, but it's no better an argument in camouflage than anywhere else. I suggest we remove the icons, flatten the list, and hide or delete any uncited claims. This would give us a reliably sourced paragraph on Variations, a logical part of an article on a pattern. Chiswick Chap (talk) 08:54, 28 March 2016 (UTC)
