Christian?

[edit]

Despite all the talk in the article about Flee The Seen NOT being a Christian band, their lyrics betray them. They're at least as Christian lyrically as many other Facedown Records bands. I love when the bands are afraid to acknowledge themselves as such. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.188.139.124 (talk) 01:53, 1 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Many Christian bands try very hard to distance themselves from the label of a "Christian band", telling all of their fans that they are not Christian. But their music is still sold in the Christian market and played on Christian radio. They only do this because so many people refuse to listen to anything associated with the Christian industry, and won't give any of it a chance. It's sort of sad to see bands like this deny their roots.

I know all five of the band members personally. They're NOT a Christian band and have never considered themselves to be. Kim's lyrics are much more personal and introverted than people realize, and do not often reflect the rest of the band members. Regardless she's not "afraid" to acknowledge herself as a Christian to anyone interested. But that does not make them "Christian Rock" anymore than someone like George Harrison or Soulfly who occasionally delve into spiritual or enlightening lyrics. Outside of her own personal beliefs, the band left Facedown in part because the label was marketing them too much toward the Christian hardcore scene (which would probably explain the comment about how they're still sold on the Christian market and Christian radio), which was never what the band had intended, nor felt they fit in. Most of the marketing towards that scene was the labels' doing. Not the bands. Sorry to be so firm, but I've had this argument before on this page with other people who want to try and label people whom they do not even know, personally. They are NOT a Christian band. End of story.
