Speedy deletion

[edit]

I don't think this is warranted. Yes, they are a new band, but they have had a lot of praise, including write ups in the UK's Guardian and a review of their forthcoming release, Sun Giant, on Pitchfork rating it at 8.7 (very high). Rogwan (talk) 17:13, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If the upper part of the banner has now been removed, does that mean it won't be speedily deleted? I noticed that within an hour of creating the article, Chickenflicker had already added more weight to it. Rogwan (talk) 19:42, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Fleet Foxes have just had a rave review on BBC Radio 2's Radcliffe and Maconie show, so I expect fandom and therefore the entry to grow significantly. --Griffin147 (talk) 21:32, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Band Members

[edit]

What instruments does each member play? I'd like to find out, and also to add it to the page.  PN57  03:43, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Taken from their record´s personell page.

Robin Pecknold [Lead vocals, guitar]
Skyler Skjelset Casey Wescott [Lead guitar]
Christian Wargo [??]
Josh Tillman joined the band after the album had been released and is now their current percussionist.

Live review

[edit]

Here is a recent live review if anyone would like to cite it or link to it. (Full disclosure: I am an editor at Crawdaddy!, where this was published. But, to abide with COI guidelines, I am not posting anything on the wikipage itself, just letting editors know about the source.) It Shows: Fleet FoxesThanks for your time

All Songs Considered

[edit]

Does the NPR program "All Songs Considered" which covered the band a number of times deserve a mention as part of its rise to prominence, a la Rolling Stone and the Guardian? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.29.176.118 (talk) 20:11, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gengre(s)

[edit]

The current gengre that appears on the page is "indie folk". Judging from what I have heard from the group so far: aren´t there some Baroque influences in their sound as well? And maybe that gengre is a sub-gengre to "Indie Folk"? I am not sure.--Albin H-L (talk) 21:13, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am SO tired of people fiddling with the genre - to be blunt, who cares? - how can you pigeon-hole this band? Lets get some new info in the article, lets write about the 2nd album; sorry I don't have the time to do that anymore. Iangurteen (talk) 18:02, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I favor the term post-Prog which, in the light of songs like Cradling Mother, Cradling Woman, seems appropriate. 2603:9005:701:3099:992D:A313:44C2:648E (talk) 18:16, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Future plans in biography articles aren't a good idea

[edit]

Future plans in biography articles aren't a good idea. To start off a paragraph, as with "Robin has revealed that in his next album he.. [doesn't want to sound] 'too poppy'.."-- that information and "future" release dates make it hard to keep articles updated. That "future" often is today, or even last year in the blink of an eye, and when talking about musicians expected record releases and how it will sound in advance, it creates work for everyone later. There are ways to word such info so it never sounds out of date. Please look at the "Second Album" section, and try re-wording it please. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 04:53, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deepwater Horizon

[edit]

I'm fairly certain naming saying that they were going to name their album Deepwater Horizon was a joke, seeing as it was the oil rig involved in the BP oil spill. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ChrisB616 (talkcontribs) 22:05, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

-In response to this, I have to say that the title "Deepwater Horizon" was still stated nonetheles, and should be displayed for people who want to know it.

Second album

[edit]

Per WP:NALBUMS, "Generally, an album should not have an independent article until its title, track listing and release date have all been publicly confirmed by the artist or their record label." So, since the separate article Fleet Foxes LP2 cannot yet meet that criterion (and can never meet that criterion with its current title), I suggest it be merged back into this article. (edit: before it's deleted!) -- Ken_g6 (factors | composites) 17:10, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Surely someone needs to make a summary of the main points in the article about the 2nd album and get them into this page? Iangurteen (talk) 13:03, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Charts

[edit]

For someone who has time to put this info in, the 2nd album is charting all over the place, see here. Iangurteen (talk) 16:42, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Awesome member timeline graphic

[edit]

I just wanted to acknowledge that the timeline under the member section is FANTASTIC, such a clear and visually-appealing way to show which members play which instruments at which time. It wasn't me who created it, I just want to thank whoever added it. Cheers! Kaodigua (talk) 21:21, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
