"Change page title"[edit]

The Fleet Science Center was re-branded in December 2016. It no longer carries the "Reuben H." portion. How can the title and page name be changed? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.164.101.2 (talk) 21:17, 21 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"More modern projector"[edit]

Re "The STS was used for many years but has been replaced by a more modern projector": what projector would that be? I tried to find some information on their website, but did't (and lost patience with the navigation). Jim (talk) 17:06, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Citations?[edit]

You know, with all that information on the center's history, perhaps there should be a citation as to where that information comes from. I'd like to be able to use this all for a report, for example, but I'm unable to as Wiki citations aren't allowed.

Perhaps we should label this article as needing citations? Roybertito (talk) 19:05, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Update[edit]

Nevermind, I went ahead and marked it as needing citations anyway. Hell, I marked it as unreferenced, there's no reliable source listed for any of this info. Roybertito (talk) 18:57, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've added some citations and removed the "unreferenced" tag, but it would still be good to find sources for all the detailed information about the projection system. --MelanieN (talk) 15:40, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions for additions?[edit]

Hello fellow editors! I am currently a volunteer at the Science Center, and as such would like to contribute up-to-date information to this article. I will be making a number of edits over the next couple of weeks regarding films, exhibitions, and pricing options. Please comment on this talk thread with any advice, suggestions, or comments. Welcome! I am a longtime fan of the Fleet (I saw Voyage to the Outer Planets and Garden Isle in their original double-bill run; I've made several recent improvements to the article; I even provided the two pictures that are here of the projector array, old and new) and sincerely welcome your efforts! I will be adding a "welcome" template to your talk page that will help you learn about different aspects of WP policy and guidelines. A very important point there is references - material added to WP needs good references. Some of the existing material in the article needs to have references added, or improved.
Something else to look at early is What Wikipedia is not. This could save you a lot of time and frustration. For example, WP does not post theater schedules, and we don't post prices of anything unless they're of historical or cultural interest. (Information on Disneyland's original ticket prices could be considered "encyclopedic" especially in historical context, but their current pricing, probably not, unless both are contrasted with e.g. contemporary prices of common items.) And anything that smacks of advertising is a no-no. (WP is an encyclopedia, not a newspaper or an advertising medium.) So showtimes and such probably wouldn't be welcome. But correct links to the Fleet's web page, where showtimes, exhibit info, etc., are posted, would be fine.
If you have any access to archive material (programs, press releases, brochures) at the Fleet offices that could be used to document more of the Fleet's past history, that could be a great help. Maybe there's a list somewhere of the titles of all of the Omnimax/Imax films ever shown there, with their dates, type (I at least would want the list to distinguish Omnimax from Imax), etc.
Lastly, please do not feel offended if I or others come in and "clean up" your initial efforts here. (For example, I added a section heading for your new thread.) There is a lot of "backstory" on Wikipedia and it takes time for new editors to learn how things are done - it's all part of collaboration. Thank you and we hope to see your contributions here soon! Oh, whups - the "Welcome" template is already there. :) Jeh (talk) 05:56, 10 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
