Differentiation from other aircraft carriers[edit]

An editor changed the criterion for differentiation of fleet carriers from other aircraft carriers from lesser to smaller, because The term "lesser type" is both objective and somewhat self-referential; thus the alteration to "smaller type", which is an objective and thus a more truthful statement. I have substituted less capable for smaller because many early second world war aircraft carriers were different from fleet carriers in other aspects than size. Lower speed was more frequently the differentiating factor in ships converted to aircraft carriers. Some converted liners were as large as fleet carriers, but lacked armor, internal subdivision, and stowage arrangements to operate the number of aircraft carried by fleet carriers or withstand battle damage which might have been comparatively insignificant to purpose designed ships.
