Fond du Lac High School

[edit]

I removed a parenthetical identifying Fond du Lac High School as being formerly Goodrich High School. Although the new High School replaces Goodrich as the only high school in Fond du Lac, they are in completely different locations.

I added a note about Goodrich being the public HS from 1922-2001, just so that it is still mentioned. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.196.120.170 (talk) 14:21, 16 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Safest/Most Crime-Free metropolitan area nationwide

[edit]

1. Is that really true? 2. If it is true, it should probably be added.

how do you pronounce Fond du Lac?

[edit]

Fond du Lac is pronounced fon due lack, not fon DA lack. Although, some residents do slur the words together making it sound like fondalack. As far as that goes, some ethnic groups say fonjoolack and fonjalack. But the fact remains it is pronounced FON DUE LACK. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.69.137.38 (talk) 16:25, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed all pronunciations. There are too many pronunciations, none were in IPA format, and none were sourced. It's controversial and unneeded. Royalbroil 16:41, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Famous people from Fond du Lac

[edit]

I've taken the liberty of removing Don Gorske from this list. The man is famous only for eating record numbers of Big Macs. This is hardly a claim to fame; rather it's an indication of some sort of psychological disorder, and should hardly be glorified by mention in an article such as this. As a Fond du Lac resident myself, I'm more embarrassed than anything else by the presence of Don Gorske in the community. Apparently we need better criteria as to what constitutes a "well-known Fond du Lac resident," at least better than just such absurd gluttony! dr-t

"Notable" ≠ "admirable". There is an article in Wikipedia about him. --Orange Mike | Talk 01:31, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'll expand on what Orangemike is saying. Famous, admirable and notable all mean different things. Since the list of famous/admirable people in a city is so subjective, we use the non-subjective criteria "has a Wikipedia article" to determine who should be mentioned in the city's article. If the person is non-notable, then someone will challenge their article for deletion and consensus about their notability gets determined. Sometimes infamous murderers even make the city's notable residents list. Royalbroil 02:58, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fine. Then I'll nominate his article for deletion. dr-t —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dr-t (talkcontribs) 21:32, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest titling the section simply "People from Fond du Lac". Some of the people listed aren't even very famous. What's more, who counts as "admirable" is subjective.--Solomonfromfinland (talk) 07:58, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fond du Lac, Wyoming?

[edit]

Disgusting. This article links to a Danish Wikipedia article saying "Fond du Lac (Wyoming)". The article even shows Fond du Lac on what it says is a map of Wyoming, even though I can tell it's a map of Wisconsin. Could someone correct the Danish Wikipedia article, vær så venlig.--Solomonfromfinland (talk) 07:53, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
