Arveladze fee

[edit]

I see this is listed as £8.5m (€12m) on the list due to the remark by his lawyer in 2015. I had looked into this at the time, and its obvious that it was a mitake or misquote. Dutch guilder was still the currency in Holland at the time of the transfer but changed soon after to Euro. The remark from the lawyer ("They received 12 million Euros from Glasgow Rangers for Shota and he did not deserve this outrageous treatment") was a statement after the case had finished and didn't directly relate to the matter in hand so he may well have just got mixed up with the currency in use. I went on this currency site which gave the following: on 31 August 2001 12000000 NLG-Netherlands (-> Euro) [Netherlands guilder / Fl]=3 422 410.39 GBP-Great-Britain [Pound sterling / £] 1 NLG=0.285201 GBP 12000000 GBP-Great-Britain [Pound sterling / £]=42 075 608.59 NLG-Netherlands (-> Euro) [Netherlands guilder / Fl] 1 GBP=3.506301 NLG

...so at the time, 12m Guilders was worth about £3.5m. Still way more than the £2m quoted, who knows why that is, but surely it represents a more realistic valuation of the player (would rangers have paid £8m for him when they had just been knocked out of Champions League qualifiers?) and a more logical explanation for the apparent huge discrepancy. Every source had it at £2m so I really think it shouldn't go on as £8.5m unless there is another source for this other than a conversion based on a throwaway comment which may well not have involved the same currency. Largest winning margins

[edit]

Just wondering if anyone could add the largest point margin a league champion has won by at the end of the season. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.162.197.70 (talk) 23:41, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
