What should we do about his article?[edit]

Now that the foothill extension is opened, are there any regular editor willing to discuss content that should be condensed, deleted, moved to the Gold Line article?--45.51.153.58 (talk) 18:30, 28 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I think it makes sense to merge. My hesitation in putting in too much work is that when the Regional Connector project is complete in 2020, Metro staff has proposed to switch the current names to letters for all the rail lines and bus rapid transit lines. Current names for Expo, Gold, Blue will no longer make sense. At that time, the history of each portion can be put into the appropriate article as the current articles will be hard to understand under the new naming system. Much condensing, some material moved to Gold Line article[edit]

Hello all!

There's been a "may contain an excessive amount of intricate detail that may only interest a specific audience" template on this one for a while now, and I very strongly agree. In particular, much of the article was taken up with blow-by-blow procedural updates on the bureaucratic and engineering steps to get the extension designed, funded, and approved. With Phase 2A open and Phase 2B approved and soon under construction, a lot of this is no longer of interest or relevant and can be jettisoned in my opinion. If anyone feels I have cut out desperately needed material, I put the most recent version of the article before my edits here, for reference.

I particularly cut down the stuff on Phase 2A, since that's now complete. Some of that material I moved to the relevant section of the main Gold Line article, so please check there before reduplicating that material here.

One of my long-term goals is to assemble History of the Los Angeles Metro Rail and Expansion of the Los Angeles Metro Rail pages (like the History of Bay Area Rapid Transit and Bay Area Rapid Transit expansion pages), which would replace the scattered pages about individual construction projects and get some of the material of mostly historic interest off the pages for individual lines. Until then, though, this page can be a repository for info on the work on the extension that's ongoing. --Jfruh (talk) 22:46, 30 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed changes to structure of Metro Rail/Busway articles[edit]

Hi all! I'm planning on changing how Wikipedia covers the history and future of the various Metro lines, moving some material out of the articles for individual lines and to articles specifically about history and expansion.
