Video CD versus DVD

I think this entry is confusing and misleading. Video CD was developed (jointly by Sony, Philips, Matsushita and JVC) several years earlier than DVD (and SD and MMCD), unlike the paragraph states. It's DVD's predecessor and there's never been a format war as such between them. If we'd go down this path we might as well ad an item 'DVD versus Blu-ray Disc' which really, of course, is a successor technology several years later. Candidate for deletion? Agreed. The two formats were not really coincident in time though VideoCD did hang on in some niche markets where DVD was never going to succeed. DieSwartzPunkt (talk) 15:41, 25 October 2014 (UTC)
