Galaxy membership list[edit]

While galaxy membership lists are easy to compile for groups of galaxies, they are nearly impossible to compile for clusters as large as the Fornax Cluster. Such lists may contain hundreds of galaxies. Hence, I have been deleting such lists when they appear on galaxy cluster pages. If other people disagree with me, please discuss the issue here.

As a compromise, it may be worth simply describing the galaxy membership in general terms (such as the number of elliptical galaxies, the number of spiral galaxies) and mentioning specific member galaxies of interest (such as NGC 1316 and NGC 1365 in the case of the Fornax Cluster). I agree that lists as lists are of limited value. But I believe that the concept behind "wikification" is that of the power of neural-like networks, as conceptually cross-connected as real objects are. As such, I believe it is important that all the galaxies within a cluster be connected via the appropriate category. Vegasbri (talk) 21:30, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
