Naming

[edit]

Why is the article "de la corne" instead of "a la corne"? The park and the attached photo of the plaque seem to suggest "a la corne" would be preferred. — Muckapedia (talk) 26e juil. 2022 9h11 (−4h) 13:11, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In "The manuscript journals of Alexander Henry" index I read "Fort de la Corne", 482, see Fort à la Corne" -- which I guess means "de" is known but less common. In "Déliberations Et Mémoires de la Société Royale Du Canada" I read that it was called "Fort la Corne" and also called "Nipawi" -- which I guess means neither "de" nor "à" is original. If the founders had consulted me at the time about what I thought sounded right, I would not have picked "à". There is a redirect from Fort à la Corne to this article. I suppose it should be the other way around. But is the trouble of moving worth it? Peter Gulutzan (talk) 14:34, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
