Corrections to Fountain Avenue (Brooklyn, New York)

[edit]

Fountain Avenue is not a site off of the Belt Parkway, specifically named "Exit 15 Erskine Street".

Fountain Avenue is a north/south thoroughfare in the eastern portion of New Lots which runs from Atlantic Avenue in the north to the entrance of the old landfill south of the Belt Parkway.

Erskine Street is a mapped City street to the east of the Brooklyn Developmental Center. It is a north/south thoroughfare that run from Vandalia Avenue in the north to Seaview Avenue in the south.

Exit 15 is an relatively newly created entrance/exit of the Belt Parkway specifically created to provide a means of accessing the recently constructed Gateway Mall.

"Various tests ..."

The statement is grossly misleading and incomplete and thus gives a false impression of the concerns over time relating to the Superfund site.

"A Press Announcement ..."

The statement lacks proper context and is thus grossly misleading. The statement by an elected official of Staten Island elected official with the parochial interest of closing the Fresh Kills Landfill, an option that was under active discussion. The statement was never meant to be taken seriously since the New Lots Superfund site, as Federal parkland, could not be re-opened.

"Bill Farrell ..."

This article contains no matters of substance with respect to the Superfund site, save as a public relations piece on behalf of a City agency.

"A February 12, 2004 ..."

The statement is simply inaccurate and in total error. The site of the yard waste solid waste processing facility has no relation to the site which presumably is the focus of the earlier section of the entry. Moreover, the activity with respect to the solid waste processing facility began years prior to the date listed. The entry author should reference the NYS DEC site to obtain more accurate information.

"BergerWorld ..."

These paragraphs relating to the remediation of the Superfund site do not conform to the controversy surrounding the remediation project. Again, the material appears to be a public relations hand out of a City agency, and as such is inherently suspect.

"Reputation ..."

In general, the entry reports various rumors about various activity at various sites and ascribes it without foundation to Fountain Avenue. The exception is with regard to Ms. St. Guillen whose corpse was discovered at the eastern portion of Fountain Avenue, just south of Fountain Avenue.
