This article is without a source for "eldest daughter of the Church" and it is in conflict with a similar page relating to Germany, because it implies that the French line from the original Kingdom of the Franks shaped Europe under the direction of the Holy See, when the German page clearly shows that it was the Germanic division that gave rise to the Holy Roman Empire. Both pages are related, both have slightly different titles. Both need reworking, but the page on France is totally misleading.

I think it refers to Charlemagne and Clovis, who are generally considered to be Frankish, and who lived many years before the Holy Roman Empire was established in 962.
