Does anyone know of some good scholarship on seventeenth-century sexuality?[edit]

Hi!

The last couple sentences of this article sound like too simplistic a treatment for something as nuanced as pre-modern concepts of sexuality and close relationships. My knowledge on the subject is based in ancient and medieval history, so I'm wondering if there's an expert out there, either on Queen Mary II herself or on sexuality in the Baroque courts of Western Europe, who could treat this article with the subtlety it deserves.

Also, related observation; I see that people have gone over a lot of evidence discussing James I's close, possibly sexual relationships with George Villiers and other favorites, but so far on this page and in her main article, Mary's just gotten a quick 'well, she ended up happily married to a man, which means that she wasn't attracted to a woman', and that seems insufficient. Does anyone else find this strange? (I'm no expert on her biographical tradition, though, so I may well be missing something obvious.)

Thanks!

I've added a couple of refs, which probably satisfy Wikipedia's citation standards, but the works fall far short from offering the "subtle treatment" you feel the subject deserves. Sorry.--217.155.32.221 (talk) 09:22, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Grave[edit]

Because of some earlier confusion, may I use this space to add the location of her grave? The History and Antiquities of the County of Northampton vol. 2 page 207 (OCLC 876818858) records this as the church of St James the Great, Paulerspury, Northants, where there is a memorial. Had she really been buried in Westminster Abbey this would have been significant enough to have in the article, but Paulerspury doesn't add much—it would be a bit unbalancing in this rather sparse page.--217.155.32.221 (talk) 21:29, 14 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
