Awards and Decorations[edit]
Father Sampson was nominated by General Eisenhower for the Congressional Medal Of Honor, It was downgraded to a DSC (Distinguished Service Cross) by the Secretary Of The Army (who by the way was a Protestant) because he didn't feel a chaplain should be awarded a MOH by virtue of their jobs description let alone a Catholic One. Father Sampson was also a prisoner of war twice... brief as it my have been, he was held captive twice by the Nazi's. It's all on record... check it out
He was also awarded the Glider Badge with two stars and I believe the Ranger Tab & Air Assault Wings. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.102.183.62 (talk) 20:30, 29 October 2014 (UTC)
