sequence of events in 1859[edit]

In 1859 the Duchy of Modena was invaded by armies of France and Piedmont. On 14 June, Francis fled. On 18 March 1860, King Victor Emanuel II of Sardinia ordered Modena to be incorporated into the new kingdom of Italy. Francis protested it four days later.

This is a puzzling passage. Did the invasion precede or follow the "order" to incorporate? Did Francis protest four days after the order, four days after the invasion, or four days after he fled? —Tamfang (talk) 07:43, 10 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
