Bad History

[edit]

The sections on events in Honduras and the subsequent one titled "Mexico" have messed up the timeline of events. Las Casas and Gil Gonzalez Davila don't go back to Mexico before Cortes arrives in Honduras, and Trujillo is founded by Cortes at the same time he names Francisco de Las Casas, who by the way is his relative (cousin?), Governor. There are also at least 2 versions of the events surrounding the death of Olid, only one of which is presented here. I don't have time to clean this up now, but wanted to note for the record that the whole thing is going to need a serious rewrite, with reliable sources since what used to be a reliable article has now gone far awry. OK I cleaned it up a little today..there's nothing I know to be factually wrong in the article at this point. I'll work to add references for what's there over the next several days. Rsheptak (talk) 20:40, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Family of Bartolomé de las Casas?

[edit]

Is this Francisco de las Casas the brother of Pedro de las Casas, Bartolomé de las Casas' father, and also the captain of the ship that participated in Columbus' second voyage and brought Pedro de las Casas to Hispaniola in 1493?·maunus · snunɐɯ· 09:58, 25 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
