POV issues[edit]

Now that he's deceased, his voting record is complete, so maybe sources could be found for more of his positions? Lines like...

"Since the advent of the late 2000s recession, Lautenberg supported a number of Democratic bills designed to deal with the resulting problems plaguing Americans."

Picture[edit]

I believe his official senate photo should be used. The current picture is blurry and not quite as official as other senators' photos.

The new picture looks good. thanks to whomever changed it.

Accomplishments[edit]

People may wonder where I got the info on Lautenberg's accomplishment passing Case. I unforunatly don't have any link, but Harry Reid was talking about it on the Senate floor.1.21 jigwatts 16:28, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Age[edit]

With Rep. Lautenberg's age being such an apparent issue in the upcoming election, we should clear up his actual birthday. 27 December 1982[edit]

Lautenberg was appointed by the Governor to his first senate seat on 27 December 1982 to fill the term of thee previous Senator who resigned. He had already been elected to the Senate, so In essnece he just begam his term a week early. This seems to be something that is not entirely uncommon. Should it be listed that Lautenberg entered the Senate in December 1982 instead of January 1983??

Special bin Laden flight passenger manifest[edit]

Frank Lautenberg's Web site still advertises his effort to get a passenger manifest for the special chartered plane taking the bin Laden family out of the U.S. shortly after the September 11th attacks.[1] One of these passengers still listed on that site was an "Omar Awad bin Laden", brother of Abdallah Osama bin Laden (fully, Abdallah bin Osama bin Muhammad bin 'Awad bin Laden) (founder of WAMY) and nephew of Osama bin Laden. Recently there has been a spate of media attention to Omar Osama bin Laden, the son of Osama bin Laden and the brother of Abdallah the founder of WAMY. What I'm wondering is, did Omar Osama lie to the U.S. government, did the Administration lie to Lautenberg, or did Lautenberg lie to us about what his relationship to Osama really was? 70.15.116.59 (talk) 00:50, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Holt an opponent?[edit]

That can't be right. Rush Holt is a Democrat; why would he mount a primary challenge to a popular Senator from his own party? OK, just read the United States Senate election in New Jersey, 2008 page. Hadn't realized he was so vulnerable. Still, I think the mention of Holt is premature. Possible inaccuracy in article intro[edit]

I take issue with this statement in the introduction to this article:

"He is the only sitting Senator to have returned to office after having left the Senate."

Isn't the same true of Kent Conrad (D-North Dakota), who resigned from office in December 1992 to take over North Dakota's other Senate seat (which he had won in a special election after not running for re-election to his own seat)? Dorgan resigned from one seat and was sworn into office for the other seat on the same day -- but didn't he technically return to office after leaving the Senate? Anecdote[edit]

An anecdote was added to the article today about how Lautenberg was prepared to engage in a street fight. I understand the point of the story--that Lautenberg was a strong man and "a fighter". But a barefisted street fighter? It just seems a poor example of who the man was. Richard Apple (talk) 16:57, 10 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Such anecdotes may be well part of "la petite histoire" of who the man was, but are of no consequence for a serious Wikipedia article. It should be removed methinks as it doesn't add anything to the article. -- fdewaele, 10 September 2013, 19:10 CET.

typo, missing title[edit]

The Infobox does not indicate he served as Governor. It indicates he was Senator under two separate time frames. He was never a Governor. Jon Corzine became the NJ Senator after his first retirement.Wondering55 (talk) 01:34, 17 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
