Frankie's actual name

[edit]

I have changed the real Italian name of Frankie to Lanfranco. The previously indicated name 'Gianfranco' is actually the name of Frankie's father, a renowned Italian jockey from Sardinia. Please check on the Italian Wikipedia on https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lanfranco_Dettori or on the first external link http://www.jockeysroom.com/itm00109.htm ESND (talk) 13:31, 2 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Image needs replacement

[edit]

Hello all...

An image used in the article, specifically Image:Frankie.jpg, has a little bit of a licensing issue. The image was uploaded back when the rules around image uploading were less restrictive. It is presumed that the uploader was willing to license the picture under the GFDL license but was not clear in that regard. As such, the image, while not at risk of deletion, is likely not clearly licensed to allow for free use in any future use of this article. If anyone has an image that can replace this, or can go take one and upload it, it would be best.

You have your mission, take your camera and start clicking.--Jordan 1972 (talk) 00:25, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cause For Concern

[edit]

The summary text on this person needs to be rewritten. Please see below:

"Frankie Dettori is a true celebrity, especially in England , where he participated in many British television shows.

He is the richest and most award-winning jockey in the history of horseracing .

The Queen of England Elizabeth II awarded him the noble title "Member of the British Empire", as she did for the Beatles; the recognition most important in England, in this case is even more because Frankie Dettori is not English

The results leave no doubt, Frankie Dettori is certainly the best jockey of all time.

He also holds the world record for having won seven races, one after the other, the same day."

This appears to be written in basic English and contains many grammatical mistakes as well other stylistic shortcomings. It is also lacks sources for the various claims stated. Quite frankly, it is appalling. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.11.180.231 (talk) 09:57, 21 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've taken it all out. It was a recent addition. Leaves the lead looking a bit thin.Tigerboy1966 (talk) 13:12, 21 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Italian-English

[edit]

Isn't he Italian English because he has British citenzship? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.25.144.223 (talk) 21:07, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I was just thinking that his MBE must mean that he's a naturalised British citizen. If that's right, then the article ought to say when he acquired his citizenship. JH (talk page) 20:28, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the external link to 'his' website, which appears to be an unused 'stub' website ESND (talk) 13:28, 2 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It looks really untidy and already has it's own section. (78.17.77.71 (talk) 17:44, 8 May 2019 (UTC))[reply]
