The Photo does not fit the article

[edit]

The photo accompanying this article is not the William Smith house. It is not the Treason House. It is also not the so-called Fraser-Hoyer House. The house in this photo was built in the mid 1970s by my grand Uncle Frank, aka Francis Joseph Hoyer, and his wife, my grand Aunt Gerry, aka Anne Geraldine Shankey Hoyer, a few yards away from the presently dilapidated and barely standing William Smith House.

Two things need fixing:

[edit]

1.) Historian Richard J. Koke determined that the Joshua Hett Smith house, razed in 1929 to make way for the Helen Hayes Hospital, had been misidentified as the location of the treasonous meeting between Benedict Arnold and Major John André. The true location is the William Smith house.

2.) The William Smith house was not destroyed by fire in 1808-09. That is also incorrect and needs to be clarified. The true Treason House still stands at its original location, although dilapidated. The so-called William Smith-Fraser-Hoyer house is, in fact, the true and original Treason House. MrEguy | ♠♥♣♦ 07:10, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
