Surname

[edit]

Is the surname 'Jones' or 'Wood Jones'? I note that it treated both ways in piping the categories, and I have seen both versions in external references. Maias 07:10, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Australian Dictionary of Biography link cited has 'Wood Jones' as the surname; it seems that he is also commonly referred to by the Royal Society of South Australia as 'Wood Jones', so I will change the article accordingly. Cheers, Bahudhara (talk) 04:44, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oops! Just checked the ADB article again - 'Jones' is indeed the surname (his father was Charles Henry Jones, and his mother was Lucy, née Allin; but it seems that he used 'Wood' as his preferred given name, rather than 'Frederic'. For example, his illustrations to the 'Mammals of South Australia' are all signed 'Wood Jones'. Cheers, Bahudhara (talk) 04:59, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
