Dates[edit]

How could he have been "well into his seventies" in 1896 when he was born in the 18th century? I think you confused the century numbers. E.g. 1800-tallet in Danish is the 19th century in English and Danish, i.e. the period from 1800–1899. De728631 (talk) 18:26, 13 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Well spotted. Thank you. I have amended this.'DesoHaa (talk)

Personal Opinion?[edit]

Please advise what part of the article is personal opinion. There is reference to who and how the myth was obtained. This is historically important information. Comparing it to the subsequent information obtained from the same person's research is an interesting demonstration of how myths grow from facts. The person is not named, simply put into familial context to give credence to the authenticity of the source.'DesoHaa (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 09:26, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Whole article needs cleanup/restructuring[edit]

Firstly, the article uses bold text for sections rather than using headers. As for cleanup, there's sentences used in the article such as:

  • "The fact that there was no such named naval officer in their records may not be significant as the Nigeria Wiki entry states that the slaver was flying a British ensign."
  • "...it was common practice to take the name of the person by whom you were baptized in those times."
  • "However, through correspondence with the Norwegian academic Professor Per Oluf Hernæs..."
  • "...in the 1820s with the further detail obtained through our e-mail correspondence..."

There is also a few quotes that needs its correct formatting. Also, the article as a whole reads like an essay. StaringAtTheStars (talk) 18:49, 18 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
