Encyclopedic tone / NPOV[edit]

Despite some significant improvements in the past, large parts of the article still read more like a personal essay of an author with a strong bias in favor of freelancing. Some entire paragraphs (including the lead) are not really presenting their content from an uninvolved perspective. Also, informal phrases and metaphors, which are common in online news, should not be used in an encyclopedic article. The description should focus first and foremost on dry basic facts, instead of offering a largely uncritical eulogy for all the benefits and wonders of freelancing. Reference structure?[edit]

Some references in the article were placed behind totally unrelated content, some do not include the referenced statements and statistics (maybe something got mixed up during a previous reorganization). I have fixed and tagged a few cases, but all references and their usage should be double-checked, if anyone with more time wants to give it a shot. GermanJoe (talk) 15:15, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Note: During the cleanup of the initial article version several of the original references seem to have been misplaced within the article (the original version did not include proper inline-references). GermanJoe (talk) 10:48, 2 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"Outsourcing in India" - removed[edit]

I have removed this section wholesale, for a number of reasons:

  • Almost none of the content was sourced by the accompanying references (as mentioned above, the referencing in this article is a mess).
  • Most of the sources were not adequate for such a topic (Q&A posts, blogs, etc.), and some of the facts were unsourced and possibly WP:OR.
  • "Outsourcing" is not "freelancing". While the topics are somewhat connected, they are not synonymous. The section failed to describe this topical connection in a meaningful way (and based on reliable sources). Content solely focussing on outsourcing in India would be better added to Outsourcing#By country. GermanJoe (talk) 10:33, 2 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
