As true as the drug related expulsions statement is, I don't feel as if it should be mentioned in this article. Bkissin 17:18, 26 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, and I removed it. In the same section I also removed Bates/Bowdoin name-dropping, and cleaned up the Pownal reference. JamesofMaine 18:35, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Media

[edit]

I cleaned up the Media section of the article, and I hope to create specific wikipages for the Newspapers that don't already have one. Bkissin 22:26, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I restored the External Links that Ripogenus deleted. I understand the desire to clean up the page, but I feel the links are valid, and representative of organizations within the town of Freeport that may be of interest to a visitor to the page who was looking for information about the town. --Mitchsensei 03:44, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My reasoning was essentially that Wikipedia articles are not supposed to be directories, or repositories of links. I still feel it should be pared down to just the town's website. My impression is "link dumping" is seen as a lazy alternative to actually adding cited content. Ripogenus77 13:55, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure what is "consensus" policy on links in general, but my own thought is that these links are organizations that are within the confines of Freeport, and generally contribute to the quality of the town. So, if FREEPORT is a category, these links seem rightful (IMHO) to be there. Some of them are indeed mentioned in the article. I live here in Freeport, so, I suppose I am not a truly unbiased source on this either. Mitchsensei 04:34, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
