Biography First paragraph[edit]

The first paragraph of the biography section of this article makes no sense to me. For context here is the current passage:

Von Zoller was on born on 25 May 1762 in Baden-Baden, and because his father was a colonel in the French Army, in command of battalion in the Royal Deux-Ponts Regiment (ZweiBrucken/Two Bridges) commanded by Christian Graf von Forbach. On 8 April 1779 von Zoller was commissioned as a second lieutenant (sous-lieutenant) in the regiment, went with his regiment to North America where he participated in the Seven Years' War during which he was promoted to the First Lieutenant and Adjutant Major.

The second clause of the first sentence seems to be incomplete, it opens "... because his father was a colonel in the French army ..." but never explains what the result is, it just goes on to describe his father position in the army. Presumably the next sentence is what happens because his father was a colonel, but it reads like it is supposed to be a completely separate thought, so I am not sure. Also it states he was in command of a battalion and that it is commanded by Christian Graf von Forbach. What is going on here? Presumably he was in command of the battalion and Christian Graf von Forbach was some higher officer he reported too? There must be some way to make it more clear what the relationships are here, although as this is the only time he is mentioned I am unclear what his significance is. Why do we care about some officer who was his father's commanding officer, did this man impact his life at all?
