This article is in real messy status. What is it about? About this guy or about his wife? Article reads like three different people talking about three different things.

Hedy Lamarr's "ethnicity"?

[edit]

Under the heading Marriage to Hedy Lamarr, it states "Both Hedy Lamarr's parents were born Jewish, but her mother converted to Roman Catholicism and was a practicing Catholic. Hedy was brought up Catholic. It is understandable, considering the times that she lived in, that she kept her ethnicity a secret." Ms. Lamarr's ethnicity seems to have been Ukrainian (her father) and Hungarian (her mother); unless someone provides DNA information to show what percentage of her DNA is specific to Jewishness, it's a little odd to refer to her family's Jewish background as being synonymous with her ethnicity. I think it makes more sense to change this to "...she kept her Jewish background a secret." See Who is a Jew?. Bricology (talk) 16:10, 18 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Jewish is both an ethnicity AND a religion. She was Jewish ethnically, regardless of the countries her parents came from, and Christian religiously. You can be Jewish and come from any country. That makes no difference. 2600:1700:BC01:9B0:952A:369:197B:B204 (talk) 00:05, 24 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
