"rest horizontally"

The article says that they rest horizontally on branches during the day, but the accompanying illustration doesn't look very horizontal. As a non-expert, I interpret this to mean that they rest parallel to the branch, but the image shows them sitting upright on the branch. Can someone with a better understanding clarify?
