Taekwondo
[edit]Perhaps this article should be moved to Front kick (Taekwondo) as there is already a short description of the basic front kick under kick.--Daveswagon 14:25, 20 July 2005 (UTC)
- That or remove the heavy slant that implies TKD own the kick. Did some but needs a re-write --Nate1481( t/c) 10:12, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- Looks like actual text should be indeed moved or needs heavy edit. Current article is about TKD front kick, not front kick in general. Otherwise some parts look plain wrong (like one on application of front kick) and biased 23:54, 9 November 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.239.5.104 (talk)
The picture is wrong
[edit]Umm... Armyboy here is using a sidekick in the second image. That's not a frontkick at all. It's also not a good thing that he is obviously pushing somewhat in the first image (since his knee is above a straight line from his hip to the target). That may be a variant of the front kick which is easier to use with shoes and the lot, but it is not what is practiced in karate, taekwondo, hapkido, etc.. Actually all chinese, japanese and korean styles I can think of at the moment try to avoid that pushing unless it's meant to be a push, which is a different action altogether. The method of kicking shown in the picture is the kind they teach in "street safe" courses and military training camps, not the pure front kick of the established martial arts.
I couldn't agree more. Glad it was changed. Ravstein 06:18, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Teep
[edit]The kick article mentions the term "teep", but this article doesn't. It should. – kentyman (talk) 03:43, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Steven Seagal
[edit]He is NOT the Bruce Lee of our time, i acknowledge that whoever added that in was a big fan of modern day MMA and most likely the UFC as well and saw his friend Anderson kick Belfort at event 126, but you sort of came off like a fanboy and i couldn't tell if you were just vandalizing or not. I am going to remove it (the Bruce Lee part) but i will leave the first sentence about him perfecting the kick because we still haven't seen somebody else use the kick to great effect on a bigger stage except for Anderson whom he helped perfect it. Anderson acknowledges that Seagal helped him perfect the kick. --Eidetic Man (talk) 22:48, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
"The front kick was invented by Steven Seagal in 1992 while filming the movie Under Siege. Since then, Seagal has allowed only a notable few students such as Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida to know the previously undiscovered move." QUOTE - Seriously? This article is a joke, obviously written by a clueless MMA fan. A front kick is a front kick, there is nothing special about it whether it's to the face or not, it is a standard kick in all forms of Karate and most other forms of martial art that include striking with the legs; Steven Seagal did not "discover" it in 1992, please. Somebody should just delete this or move parts of it to the article on martial arts kicks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Oposie (talk • contribs) 21:49, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
