notes found in the inner booklet of the GHV2 cd. 9362-48000-2

[edit]

these notes found inside the cd booklet seem to be written by a Dan Cadan. (are they also in the special edition?) transcription is being posted in parts.

“MUSIC - IT´S PRIMAL AND IT´S VISCERAL … IT’S ABOUT COMING TO LIFE” I would never dare attempt to delve into the psyche of a Madonna fan, however ardent, to try and examine the emotions that she impels upon them. And I am no expert in Madonna, or music, but I feel that having spent some time with her, in the capacity that I have, I am able to offer a distinctly different insight into Her Royal Highness, Madonna R., Queen of Pop… I first met Madonna when I was a runner at SKA films, the production company owned by Guy Ritchie and Matthew Vaughn. During my first few days working there, her “Ray Of Light” video was on the tv and Guy discussed with me “how good” Madonna looked. That, I thought, would be the end of that. Little was I to know that Madonna would share the sentiments that Guy had bestowed upon her and three years later, treat them both to a son, Lourdes a brother, and ultimately become Mrs.R. Good show!... I know very little of Madonna’s background but after the aspiring ballerina’s move from Michigan to New York in 1977, she firmly pulled up a chair at the pop music table. The chair soon became a throne. She then quickly found herself at the head of the table and sovereignty followed during the 80’s. Madonna augmented her reign during the 90’s, evolving at a rate that more than outweighed even her closest of rivals and with each evolution revolution, procured greater reverence and admiration... I am writing this mid-shoot on “Love, Sex, Drugs & Money,” Mr. Ritchie’s latest film in which he has very kindly allowed his spouse to further her film career… by working in the catering truck. Without fail Madonna is on set every morning at 0500, hairnet on, cigarette in mouth, making tea and flipping eggs for the hungry crew. “She´s not bad,” said one of the burly electricians yesterday, “but she keeps burning the fucking bacon, it has to stop, or she has to go!” I witnessed the grip tossing his sandwich into a bin remarking, “ I know she´s the Guv’nor’s wife and all, but she should stick to what she does best.” I asked Madonna about the bacon but she refused to comment...

Hit singles in Europe

[edit]

It is a fallacy to state that "Secret" was the only hit in Europe fromBedtime Stories. It may have been the biggest hit, but "Take A Bow" made the Top 40 in at least nine European countries, including Top 10 placings, and all the singles from the album bar "Take A Bow" made the Top 10 in the UK. The album's singles may not as been as big in Europe as previous singles, but to suggest all the singles were a failure is pure fabrication Paul75 (talk) 11:11, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't say they were failures, only that not as succesful. Alecsdaniel (talk) 13:28, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alternate Cover

[edit]

I live in Australia and in every CD store seeling GHV2, there is a COMPLETELY, and I mean COMPLETELY, different cover. It has a picture of madonna in a singing/shouting position, like on the back cover where only the bottem half of the mouth to her knees is visible, but this version is a full picture of her. I think it should be added.--124.149.58.113 (talk) 11:14, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I did add this cover to the article, but it was removed for copyright reasons.  :( Paul75 (talk) 12:54, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Liner notes

[edit]

According to the liner notes of "GHV2," written by Dan Cadan:

"...'Deeper and Deeper,' from the same album, lowered some of the upturned noses caused by the 'Erotica' single. But they were soon raised again when they discovered that the track was about a miner coming to terms with his homosexuality, 'I can't help falling in love, I fall deeper and deeper the further I go,' he sings as he disappears deep into the dark shaft.

"The first chapter of the 1994 Bedtime Stories album was 'Secret,' a song that tackled the hard-hitting issue of transvestites. Documenting a man's sudden realization that his girlfriend is packing more than she promised as he/she shares his/her secret with him, she sings the crushing prose '...happiness lies in your own hand...' Think about it. Think harder."

"...A little known fact, is that the ethereal track 'Frozen' was originally commissioned by Haagen Dazs for a commercial, but its unearthly qualities were deemed unsuitable for ice-cream promotion."

This information should be added to the articles of the songs mentioned. Stopitplease92 (talk) 20:01, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment comment

Article requirements:

Green tickY Start: reasonably complete infobox; lead section with overview of album; track listing; reference to at least primary personnel by name; Categorization by at least artist and year.

→Article lacks a personnel section, which is necessary for C class. It doesn't include primary personnel by name, but it contains enough of the other criteria of higher classes to warrant a better rating. Given a personnel section which at least includes all musicians, the article could reach "C" class. To reach "B" class, it needs improved citations in text sections.

Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject_Albums/Assessment for additional information on article class. To request a reassessment from the Album project, when concerns are addressed, please see "requesting an assessment". --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:51, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proper compilation album template

[edit]

Hi. I make edits on this site. Specifically on compilation albums that have incorrect track listings. I have made numerous edits on the pages for Madonna's many compilation albums and my edits are changed or reverted. That's fine. The only problem is that I know I am making good edits because I follow the Template:Track listing and don't stray from that. I only like to make these pages correct, and I like most to do that in the form of adding the original albums that the songs are from. I have tried making those edits on this page and have been scolded for trying to do so, threatened to being reported and have been wrongly accused of being an IP address. If someone could inform me how my edits are incorrect, and how they go against Wikipedia regulations, I will leave it to rest. Thank you. Calhounmuse (talk) 04:27, 5 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As explained on my talk page, you are adding a note parameter to the articles when it is clearly not present in the track listing of the actual compilation album. Just because {{Track listing}} has it as an example does not mean its the by means for all. Please remember that we follow the actual tracklist of an album/single/compilation and should NOT be using our own methods of notations. —IB [ Poke ] 09:41, 5 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Remix album

[edit]

I was intending on sourcing it as it’s own source as you would liner notes, that way it’s not disputable. Also, the way it’s currently listed in the track list section makes it look like part of the GHV2 release which it wasn’t. As an owner of the promo and a Madonna music collector too, I also am well informed on the release and understand how promotional CDs work as I work in the industry. I think it would benefit with its own infobox as it isn’t actually part of the GHV2 album itself. It would also make the article much more accurate :) Let's go through the ritual... (talk)

No. The release was a promo record accompanying the original album, it does not require its own infobox. It is very much a part of the GHV2 campaign, including utilizing the same promo images and artwork. —IB [ Poke ] 15:06, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You misunderstood. The way it’s listed makes it look like it’s an edition of the album, but it isn’t. It’s a separate promo. It needs to be separated in some way either with information or a info box ideally. Let's go through the ritual... (talk) 15:12, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The article prose clearly indicates that it was a separate promo album and so does the track list header. Nevertheless, all track list should be under one section as per guided by WP:ALBUMSTYLE. Please don't bring your personal preference into this. I'm not arguing your points, I'm placing infront of you a Wikipedia guideline. —IB [ Poke ] 15:16, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Totally understand the guideline that why I have an issue. The track list needs to represent the album, as it’s listed currently, it looks like another edition of GHV2, and it’s not. Hence it needs its own section Let's go through the ritual... (talk) 15:25, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No it does not. We have enough precedence across Wikipedia to show that promo remix albums are not added in separate sections. —IB [ Poke ] 15:29, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The track list info for a completely different promotional tool shouldn’t be sitting under the tracklist for the album itself. While it’s a part of the campaign, it’s not an edition of the album.Let's go through the ritual... (talk) 15:33, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
WP:IDHT applies here. —IB [ Poke ] 15:40, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Stop bullying, you will be reported. That’s ridiculous. I can see that it doesn’t meet the album template guideline. Of course many people are free to join in the discussion. Not only yourself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Everything Is Beautiful (talkcontribs) 15:44, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Lol, when you have no concrete way of putting the point across, you start with the bullshit of bullying. Try reporting. —IB [ Poke ] 15:52, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You are bullying me. I stated my case and I believe my idea is in conjunction with the guidelines that you so proudly linked. Then your last two comments were out of line. We are talking about an article for goodness sake. This is so incredibly rude and demeaning. Let's go through the ritual... (talk) 15:55, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Because you are literally going on harping the same thing over and over again even when I have given you the guideline, shown you examples. I Don't Hear It is a part of disruption which I am very much going to discuss with your edit. I will raise RFC and ANI if needed. —IB [ Poke ] 16:00, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
