Gabriel Kent plot arc synopsis found in the main The Bill article

[edit]

While this is not written in an encyclopedic tone, some of the info may be useful for this article. Anyone care to work with it? My memory of the events in the show isn't that good... --Kurt Shaped Box 03:20, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

When PC Gabriel Kent arrived in 2003 (Ep.126) he brought a mature aged attitude to the force; he was keen to do good and enforce the law. But over the next two years this slowly but surely changed, leading to a dramatic climax. In the beginning he worked mostly by the book but soon the power went to his head. His first victim was PC Ruby Buxton who quit the force when Kent bullied her into lying on the stand at a court appearance. Insp. Gina Gold was immediately aware of his actions and always kept a watchful eye over him. So greatly annoyed at his superior was PC Kent that he turned to blackmail when she was caught over the legal alcohol limit; he used this to force her hand. After enacting actions of a mental proportion he turned to the physical side of things when involved in DC Jim Carver's marital affair with wife Marie Graham. Called out to a disturbance at their home he took control of the situation by hitting both Jim and Marie over the head with a beer bottle; they subsequently ended up in hospital with confusion reigning on what had actually occured. Only PC Kent knew and he wasn't about to tell. After messing with DC Carver he moved onto Sun Hill stallwart Sgt. June Ackland. He played on her insecurities and the two began an affair that they kept to themselves. June was always unsure about what they were doing and her fears were realised when he confessed to being her son after Insp. Gina Gold did some digging, forcing him into a corner.. Sgt. Smith then found out, along with long time lover DC Carver. The affair was always kept quiet. After making June feel so disgusted at herself PC Kent proceeded to tell her it was all a lie, part of his revenge plan. Shocked, Sgt Ackland threatened all kinds of action but it never occured. PC Kent's secret was again kept behind closed doors. He then zoned in on PC Kerry Young's love life and watched on poisoning her every relationship. With a growing hatred of Sgt. Smith, PC Kent took the opportunity of acting on PC Young's minor concerns that Smithy may have raped her, he hadn't. In her ear at any chance PC Kent clouded her judgement, she lodged a claim of rape against Sgt. Smith and when it was all too much to follow up she dropped it, much to the anger of Kent who developed a sick interest in her, he raped her knowing no one would believe her claim of rape a second time around. Also during this time, PC Kent was assigned to an estate by none other than Insp. Gold after he was found to be harrassing fellow PC Andrea Dunbar. The bitterness inside Kent led to his heavy handed tactics on the estate. He bashed a paedophile, set a group of thugs on a loan shark and befriended resident Laura Bryant who eventually realised his devious acts were going too far. She filed a complaint but he again eluded even an enquiry. When PC Cameron Tait found out about his rape of PC Young he exploded and that's exactly what PC Kent wanted to happen. PC Tait was forced to quit for punching him in the face several times. PC Young vowed revenge and when she found out his true identity, he snipered her dead, not knowing that she was carrying his unborn child. At first we thought he was just trying to disguise it as a sniper shooting but we soon learned of his involvement with the serial sniper. He came to blows with the guy he employed as his shooter of scum and low life when the net was closing in, the only way out was another murder and did so by pushing the guy off his balcony, claiming self defence. PC Steve Hunter witnessed it but PC Kent again got in his ear and things were swept under the carpet once again. Colleagues were starting to become even more suspicious, none more so than Sgt. Smith and PC Dunbar who worked together to find some answers about why he was at the centre of crime so many times. It just happened on the day PC Dunbar uncovered all the truths and lies, and confronted PC Kent that she was exposed as an undercover journalist and a disgruntled PCSO drove a van laden with petrol into the front of the station leading to an explosion that trapped both of them. Kent rose from the ashes and left PC Dunbar to die in the fire knowing once again he'd got away with it. He became the hero of the fire by winning brownie points when rescuing Sgt. Smith. Even Insp. Gold was a tad impressed. He was then a changed man, but not for long. At first he held off the temptation to get into a relationship with PC Sheelagh Murphy, instead choosing to seek solace in prostitutes. After regaining trust in his colleagues he again became selfish by dating PC Murphy while still having a prostitute girlfriend. It was a bumpy relationship and PC Murphy was never swayed by the fact that Sgt. Ackland had warned her off him, Sgt. Smith drunkenly revealed that PC Young said he raped her and PC Kent himself told her that he pushed the sniper to his death. And when marriage was on the cards things looked up, but even PC Kent couldn't escape the next revelation. The real Gabriel Kent turned up at the station looking for his mother Sgt. June Ackland; this immediately set the other Kent off who tried to convince Gabriel to leave. It just so happened that the real Gabriel was shot in the Sun Hill siege (Ep.349). This gave him time to ponder and grow even more insane. And while PC Kent was again out using heavy handed techniques of justice the folk of Sun Hill discovered the truth. Realising the game was up when he caught PC Murphy going through his things, he tied her up and headed to the hospital where he attempted to murder the real Gabriel by putting a pillow over his head. When called out to a suicidal teenager Sgt. Ackland realised PC Kent had completely flipped. He dragged her to the top of a building and claimed she had ruined his life. Sgt. Smith intervened but was bashed unconscious by the evil PC. Police arrived at the scene and realising there was no way out, PC David Kent leapt from the building (Ep.353).
